Model Based Systems Engineer Co-Op

Boston Metal seeks a Co-op student to join the Model-Based Systems Team to facilitate development of new high-temperature electrolysis systems to produce carbon-emissions-free tonnage molten metals and alloys.

You will learn and use principles of model-based systems

engineering (MBSE) to create, maintain and refine the system model of Molten

Oxide Electrolysis (MOE) plant systems.

Duties:

• Assist in building, developing, and maintaining MBSE models for the system and software using Mathworks tools.
• Assist system model analysis using MATLAB and Simulink Software.
• Assist with the authoring of requirements-based testing to verify requirements using system models.
• Assist with data analysis and interpreting modeling and prototype testing results pertaining to system and software requirements verification and validation.
• Analyze simulation and test data to improve the fidelity of the system architecture and software architecture models.

Required experience and skills:

• BS/MS in Mechatronics, Electrical, Physics, Systems Engineering or similar
• engineering major.
• Experience in Simulink, Stateflow and Simscape.
• Experience in MATLAB object-oriented programming and system model report generation.
• Experience with Mathworks Model-Based Design is a strong plus.
• Experience with Mathworks System Composer is a strong plus.
• Must have ‘startup attitude’: thrive in small teams, self-motivated, quick learner, passionate, agile, and adaptable.

Additional Information:

You will be working in a small team environment where teamwork and good relationships with other team members is critical. We operate pilot plants and labs and many of our staff members are required to wear Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and you should be prepared to do so as well when necessary.
