The Internal Sustainability Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing sustainability initiatives within the organization. This role involves collaborating with various departments to ensure that sustainability practices are integrated into all aspects of the company's operations. The Internal Sustainability Specialist will also monitor and report on the effectiveness of sustainability programs and identify opportunities for improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement sustainability programs.
  • Collaborate with departments to integrate sustainability practices into daily operations.
  • Monitor and report on the effectiveness of sustainability initiatives.
  • Conduct sustainability audits and assessments.
  • Identify opportunities for improving sustainability practices.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and regulations related to sustainability.
  • Establish partnerships with suppliers and external stakeholders to align sustainable practices across the supply chain.
  • Manage specific projects related to energy efficiency, waste reduction, and responsible resource use.
  • Act as an internal consultant for teams, providing guidance on implementing sustainable practices in corporate projects and operations.
  • Assist on ESG reporting and analyzing scope 1-3 corporate emissions

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in either environmental studies or science, Sustainability Development, Environmental Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of sustainability principles and practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with various departments and stakeholders.
  • Strong data analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of ESG reporting.
  • Ability to calculate scope 1-3 GHG emissions or conduct a Life Cycle Analysis (LCA).
  • Experience working with Python or R stats program.

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of sustainability certifications such as GRI, CDP and TCFD.
  • Understanding of local, national, and international environmental regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to think creatively and develop innovative solutions to sustainability challenges.
  • Proficiency in analyzing environmental data and metrics to assess the effectiveness of sustainability initiatives.
  • Professional proficiency in Portuguese.

You will be working in a small team environment where teamwork and good relationships with other team members is critical. We operate pilot plants and labs and many of our staff members are required to wear Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and you should be prepared to do so as well when necessary.
