Purpose Driven Position

Reporting to the CTO, the Director of Engineering Hardware will lead the development, deployment and maintenance of the Ready Mix injection technology, with a primary focus on flawless installations, reliable operations and continual process optimization. The role requires someone with an exceptional level of initiative, leadership and systematic thinking to support our ambitious targets and broader company vision. What you'll need to succeed

  • Oversee Ready Mix technology assembly, QA/QC, logistics, installation & maintenance around the world with the goal of ensuring customer and CarbonCure’s mutual success
  • Drive efficient installation planning processes with the goal of reducing the timeline from sale to install
  • Establish a comprehensive maintenance program for hardware systems, including regular inspections, troubleshooting protocols, and preventive maintenance procedures.
  • Ensure the team is setup to promptly address hardware issues reported by clients or field technicians and any learning opportunities are captured
  • Proactively identify any reliability trends, systemic issues or optimization opportunities that require design modifications, and implement appropriate change management processes
  • Manage a departmental budget and provide technical and budgetary updates to senior management
  • Support other internal teams in customer facing discussions with technical support as required
  • Continually identify, resource and champion opportunities to improve processes within and across teams
  • Regularly monitor resource utilization and preemptively identify opportunities and risks based on future demand forecasts
  • Provide critical input into any techno-economic evaluation of new markets
  • Be a visible safety champion for the company, ensuring all safety practices are actively followed and any safety issues are promptly addressed

    What you'll be doing

    • Engineering degree in a field such as: Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical or Civil
    • Minimum 10 years of experience in technology installation, maintenance and customer support preferably in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
    • Experience developing and managing reliability programs and customer support mechanisms for troubleshooting
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to communicate confidently with customers as well as internal cross functional teams
    • Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage resources, and meet deadlines effectively.
    • Demonstrated ability to inspire and lead a team effectively, with strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach to problem-solving.
    • Continuous improvement & customer obsessed mindset with an interest in identifying and championing process or reliability improvement
    • Comfortable using data and analytics to inform decisions, track progress, and measure the effectiveness of initiatives & processes.
    • Proven experience in mentoring and developing technical staff (including geographically dispersed teams) to achieve individual and team goals.
    • Ability to produce quality work within tight deadlines, and comfortable working in a highly variable environment
    • Detail oriented with a passion for getting the job done
    • Proficient with various software including Zoom, Slack, Salesforce, Microsoft Office Suite, Google suite, Atlassian suite
    • Must be willing to travel globally and have a valid passport
    • Legal ability to travel globally
    • Knowledge of concrete batching operations & processes and experience working with or alongside concrete producers is a strong asset but not essential.

    Work Environment

    • This is a permanent, full-time position that will be based in CarbonCure’s headquarters in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. This position will involve occasional travel to current and prospective customer sites or industry events as required.
    • This position will be supporting distributors and customers located across the world. As such, it is expected that support across these different time zones will be accommodated through flexible working arrangements.
    • A minimum of eight (8) hours Monday to Friday is required, with the possibility of additional time based on project and customer demand
