We value integrity and accountability; and our core values include Customer Success, Earned Trust, Straight Talk and A Thriving Team. We don’t take ourselves too seriously, but we are here to change the world.
Purpose Driven Position
As an integral part of our Hardware Team, you will play a hands-on role in building complex control and valve enclosures using detailed drawings and work instructions. You’ll perform electrical and pressure testing, prepare replacement-part kits, and keep precise build and inventory records. This role also offers the opportunity to contribute your ideas to continuous improvement initiatives in a low-volume, highly technical production environment.
We’re looking for someone who is detail-oriented, takes pride in their work, and enjoys blending mechanical assembly with electrical know-how.
What you'll be doing
- Assemble control enclosures and valve enclosures, including panel hardware, mounting, wiring, labeling, and mechanical fitting assembly.
- Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, simple mechanical drawings, and bills of materials to execute builds to specification.
- Conduct electrical checks (continuity, polarity, insulation where applicable) and basic I/O verification under supervision.
- Conduct mechanical/pressure tests for valve assemblies, including leak checks, torque verification, and visual inspection.
- Complete travelers, checklists, and as-built records with accurate serial numbers and configuration data; maintain document discipline.
- Prepare finished systems and replacement-part kits for shipment with correct labeling and documentation.
- Record part usage during picking, support cycle counts, report discrepancies, and sustain inventory accuracy.
- Participate in 5S and continuous improvement activities; propose simple jigs, fixtures, or work-instruction updates to reduce rework and variability.
- Operate common shop tools and test equipment safely (multimeters, torque tools, crimpers/ferrule tools, wire strippers, label printers, pressure gauges, and basic hand tools).
- Maintain a safe, organized work area and comply with applicable LOTO, PPE, and shop safety procedures.
- Collaborate with the production manager, design engineering specialists, logistics, and peers to resolve build questions and meet shipment schedules.
What you'll need to succeed
- Graduate of an electromechanical, mechatronics, electrical, or industrial maintenance technician program, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- Proficiency in reading electrical schematics and simple mechanical drawings and executing builds accordingly.
- Demonstrated skill in enclosure wiring and harnessing, crimping and ferruling, neat layout, and clear labeling.
- Basic mechanical aptitude with tubing and compression fittings, correct torque application, and sealing principles.
- Competent with multimeters and common measurement tools; careful, methodical approach to test setups and documentation.
- Strong attention to detail with reliable record-keeping on travelers, checklists, and as-built logs.
- Effective communication skills and teamwork in a workshop/ warehouse environment; eagerness to learn and adhere to standard procedures.
- Computer literate, with a proficiency in spreadsheets, along with the ability to learn Smartsheet and other internal systems.
Work Environment
- This is a permanent, full-time position at our Headquarters in Dartmouth, NS.
- A minimum of eight (8) hours Monday to Friday is required, with the possibility of additional time based on projects and customer demand.
- Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
