What you will do:
The Manager I, Maintenance Reliability Engineering, plays a critical role in scaling Electra’s core technology by leading maintenance activities and driving system reliability across the plant. This role manages a team of technicians and ensures that equipment performance supports production goals during commissioning and scale-up.
Work assignments are predetermined, process-driven, and subject to a moderate level of control and review. The Manager directs reports based on established policies and procedures, applying a basic understanding of the business and operating environment to guide decisions, priorities, and workflows. The ideal candidate will be comfortable providing structure while remaining agile in a fast-growing operation.
Responsibilities include:
- Design and lead reliability-centered maintenance strategies for critical assets and systems
- Conduct root cause failure analyses and implement long-term corrective actions
- Track metrics such as MTTR, MTBF, and system uptime to identify trends and inform planning
- Lead preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs using CMMS platforms
- Create clear task flows and SOPs aligned to reliability best practices
- Provide technical and operational direction to maintenance technicians
- Assign and review work based on established standards and policies
- Lead daily toolbox talks, team planning meetings, and performance check-ins
- Support workforce development through coaching, training, and skill assessments
- Collaborate with the Engineering team on new system installation, commissioning, and early-stage troubleshooting
- Provide input on design-for-maintainability and serviceability during system selection
- Help optimize maintenance documentation, tracking, and reporting processes
- Ensure work is executed in alignment with site safety and compliance standards
- Interface with EHS team to support training, audits, and incident response
- Participate in cross-functional planning related to operations and infrastructure readiness
What we need you to bring to the team:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or related Engineering discipline
- 5+ years of experience in maintenance or reliability engineering within an industrial setting (excluding internships, co-ops, and other school projects)
- 1+ years of prior supervisory experience managing technicians
- Background in metals/mining, chemical processing, or manufacturing industries
- Demonstrated ability to work within structured assignment frameworks and process controls
- Effective communicator and team leader, capable of enforcing procedures while promoting collaboration
- Prior experience in scaling operations and commissioning new facilities or equipment
- Reliability certification (e.g., CRL, CMRP) or formal training in RCM/FMEA
- Familiarity with industrial systems, pumps, motors, instrumentation, and control loops
- Ability to manage predetermined, process-driven assignments subject to a moderate level of review and control
- Provides direction to subordinates based on knowledge of established policies and procedures
- Basic understanding of business and operating environments
- Executes specified routine tasks and ensures targets are met, typically against a weekly plan
- Provides immediate supervision to a unit or group of employees by assigning tasks and monitoring work at frequent intervals
- Maintains team schedules and workflow while balancing individual task execution with supervisory responsibilities
What we want you to bring to the team:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or related Engineering discipline
- 6+ years of experience in maintenance or reliability engineering within an industrial setting
- 2+ years of prior supervisory experience managing technicians
- Develops and manages routine operational plans to ensure departmental goals are achieved
- Meets performance targets typically aligned to monthly plans while balancing priorities and resources
- Works on issues requiring analysis of data and relevant factors to resolve complex problems
- Exercises judgment and interpretation in defining procedures and policies to determine appropriate actions
- Receives assignments aligned with incremental objectives and defined processes while driving execution through teams
- Provides direction to employees in line with established policies and management guidance
- Administers company policies that directly impact subordinate employees and recommends adjustments to unit or department practices
- Monitors and manages departmental costs, ensuring alignment with business objectives and budgetary requirements
- Demonstrates a strong understanding of the business line with a foundational understanding of overall company operations
Compensation:
- The anticipated starting pay range for this position is $90,000-$100,000 and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education.
