Electric Hydrogen’s mission is to make molecules to decarbonize our world! Our outstanding people are our most important asset and will allow us to deliver hydrogen from renewable electrolysis for heavy industry, at prices below fossil fuels.

We're looking for a Cell Test Engineer to develop electrochemical testing protocols to validate performance and durability of cell technology and stack design. You will ensure data-based decision-making by guiding execution of well-controlled experiments and collaborating across multiple teams to promote a 360-cell design.

You will be based in our Natick, MA office and you will report to the Director of Cell Testing.

  • Design and implement electrochemical test protocols on research-scale cells and product-intent stacks to validate cell technology and system requirements
  • Work with software engineering team to automate data analysis and promote data-based decision-making
  • Document and present experimental test plans and results across multiple teams including modelers, manufacturing, and stack engineering
  • Gain in-depth understanding of electrolysis cell test stations to troubleshoot and resolve issues during test operation
  • Lead efforts to track performance using statistical analysis tools to identify cell and test stand variability
  • Collaborate with internal customers directly on cell and stack development
  • Develop standard operating procedures for implementing electrochemical testing protocols
  • Perform electrochemical and mechanical characterization of cell components to advise optimization of important components affecting the electrolysis cell performance and durability

  • Have a Bachelor's degree in a STEM field such as Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, or other related field
  • 5+ years in industrial R&D in testing electrochemical devices or equivalent non-industrial experience
  • Familiarity with electrical control systems, instrumentation, and power supplies
  • Functional in a loud production environment and able to lift at least 50 lbs
  • Exhibits commitment to a safe, reliable, and efficient work environment

You (The Ideal Candidate)

  • Have an M.S. or Ph.D.
  • Experienced with testing water electrolysis cells
  • Understand mechanical engineering principles and systems including pumps, pneumatics, fans, flow meters, air handling systems, industrial chilled water, heating, process piping, and heat transfer
