We are looking for a Senior Process Development Engineer to develop new, innovative manufacturing process technologies to solve complex design challenges that directly enable future Electric Hydrogen product development. You will shape our manufacturing processes to enable us to scale and cell performance. As a small company, daily tasks can and will be varied; our work will be focused on our goal of enabling deep decarbonization! Daily tasks can include but are limited to: troubleshooting problems with chemical manufacturing processes, develop safety procedures to be employed by workers operating equipment or working in close proximity to ongoing chemical reactions, design and plan layout of equipment, monitor and analyze data from processes and experiments, prepare estimate of production costs and production progress reports for management, design measurement and control systems for chemical plants based on data collected in laboratory experiments and in pilot plant operations, investigate or resolve operational problems, such as material use variances or bottlenecks, provide technical expertise or support related to manufacturing, incorporate new manufacturing methods or processes to improve existing operations, and/or review product designs for manufacturability or completeness.

You will work onsite at our Devens Gigafactory and report to the Manager of Manufacturing Process Engineering. As a manufacturing facilities role, some shift work flexibility is required.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Develop and assess novel techniques for technology scale up from R&D to manufacturing and to solve key technical issues to meet electrolyzer product requirements of performance, cost, reliability, and quality
  • Plan validation to demonstrate initial feasibility as well as manufacturing capability
  • Primary NPI contact to drive process development and capability assessment
  • Optimize processes using statistical design of experiments (DOE)
  • Establish proper Statistical Process Control (SPC) schemes for new processes
  • Identify potential execution issues and provide recommendations to mitigate risk
  • Present timely, concise reports advising the readiness of manufacturing processes to diverse set of program stakeholders

Qualifications

  • Committed to safety and able to follow established safety guidelines
  • B.S. Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Materials Science, Electrical, Chemical, etc.)
  • 9+ years of direct experience with hands-on process development preferred
  • Solid understanding of laser/material interactions
  • In-depth understanding and working knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and/or Design of Experiments (DOE)

Actual base salary offered to the hired applicant will be determined based on their work location, level, qualifications, job-related skills, as well as relevant education or training and experience.​
