Electric Hydrogen’s mission is to make molecules to decarbonize our world! Our outstanding people are our most important asset and will allow us to deliver hydrogen from renewable electrolysis for heavy industry, at prices below fossil fuels.

Join the Team That’s Decarbonizing the Future

At Electric Hydrogen (EH2), our mission is bold and urgent: to make the molecules that will decarbonize the world. We’re building breakthrough electrolyzer technology to power industries like refining, steel, ammonia, and advanced fuels (eSAF, maritime, and more). Our greatest asset? Our people—the innovators and problem-solvers who bring this vision to life.

We’re searching for a strategic, business-minded attorney who thrives at the intersection of innovation, law, and global impact. In this role, you’ll be a trusted partner to leaders across the company, guiding high-stakes negotiations and ensuring that EH2 grows on a solid, forward-thinking legal foundation. If you’re a seasoned attorney with deep experience in commercial transactions—and you want your work to directly advance the clean energy transition—this is your opportunity.

What You’ll Do

  • Be a strategic advisor: Partner with leadership and teams across EH2 to shape deals and business strategies that balance opportunity with risk.

  • Lead critical negotiations: Draft, review, and negotiate complex procurement and supply chain contracts, construction agreements, and hydrogen project development deals.

  • Support the business end-to-end: Advise on real estate, permitting, power procurement, offtake agreements, and other development activities tied to our global hydrogen projects.

  • Expand your impact: Depending on your interests, take on projects spanning corporate governance, IP, trade, data privacy, and regulatory compliance.

  • Build the system: Streamline legal processes, develop playbooks, and implement tools to make EH2’s legal operations more efficient and scalable.

  • Mentor and collaborate: Guide other members of the legal team while working closely with HR, finance, operations, marketing, and business development to enable EH2’s rapid growth.

What You Bring

  • J.D. and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar

  • 12+ years of experience with a top global law firm and/or in-house team, with proven success in commercial transactions and project development

  • Expertise in drafting and negotiating complex agreements for procurement, construction, or heavy equipment

  • Strong experience in energy project development (renewables, advanced fuels, or oil & gas strongly preferred)

  • A high capacity for managing fast-paced, high-volume work while maintaining precision and judgment

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills that inspire confidence and trust

  • A collaborative, problem-solving mindset with the flexibility to thrive in a rapidly growing, evolving industry

Why You’ll Love Working Here

  • Impact at scale: Your work will directly accelerate the transition to a zero-carbon future.

  • High-growth environment: Be part of a company that’s expanding globally and setting new standards in clean energy technology.

  • A seat at the table: You’ll work side-by-side with senior leadership on mission-critical projects.

  • Flexibility: Based in San Jose, CA or remote, with opportunities to collaborate globally (some travel required).

If you’re ready to put your legal expertise to work shaping the future of energy, we’d love to hear from you!
