Electric Hydrogen’s mission is to make molecules to decarbonize our world! Our outstanding people are our most important asset and will allow us to deliver hydrogen from renewable electrolysis for heavy industry, at prices below fossil fuels.

Help shape Europe’s green hydrogen future.

At Electric Hydrogen (EH2), we’re building electrolyzer systems that will make green hydrogen cost-competitive faster than anyone thought possible. Our mission is simple but bold: make the lowest cost hydrogen for the hardest-to-decarbonize industries—steel, ammonia, refining, fuels—and accelerate the clean energy transition.

We’re looking for a Director of Government Affairs & Policy, Europe to lead our engagement with policymakers, regulators, and industry coalitions across the EU and member states. Your work will ensure that Europe’s leaders understand EH2’s unique cost advantage and the urgent opportunity to scale green hydrogen.

What you’ll do

· Develop and implement strategic advocacy plan to drive increased green hydrogen demand

· Be a thought leader influencing policy makers, academics, industry leaders, and journalists regarding the cost trajectory of green hydrogen based on EH2’s cost advanced technology

· Shape specific policy and regulatory frameworks in Brussels, Germany, France, Spain, UK, and other emerging clean hydrogen economies to enable rapid market growth for green hydrogen technology and projects

· Build trusted relationships with policy makers, thought leaders, and industry partners at the EU and member state levels

· Be the voice of EH2 in European industry associations and policy circles

· In furtherance of the strategic advocacy plan, cost effectively manage a growing team of policy consultants and lobbyists

· Translate complex technical and economic insights into powerful narratives that inspire action

· Identify policy opportunities and build campaigns to impact industry and company growth in Europe

· Communicate policy opportunities and outcomes internally, including keeping EH2 sales, marketing, cost estimation, development and leadership teams apprised of legal and policy trends impacting the business

· Collaborate with EH2’s sales and marketing teams to integrate policy initiatives with commercial and marketing objectives

· Advocate for governmental funding, incentives, and partnerships that support manufacturing, fabrication, export/import, deployment, sales and service objectives

Why this role matters

The European Commission and member states are at an inflexion point—stick with and implement the ambitious goals for green hydrogen enshrined in RED III or scale back. For EH2, this is more than market opportunity—it’s a chance to anchor Europe’s leadership in the global hydrogen economy. Your leadership will directly shape the conditions that determine how fast green hydrogen becomes a reality.

What you bring

· Deep understanding of EU legal structures and member state policy making processes, including the regulation of renewables, electricity, clean hydrogen, and advanced fuels

· Intimate knowledge of renewable energy and clean hydrogen laws and regulations, including the RFNBO Delegated Act, RED III, and member state transposition of RED III

· Understanding of renewable, hydrogen, and energy distribution systems, grids, and markets in the EU

· Familiarity with the key legal and funding mechanisms impacting hydrogen, including EU competition law, state aid rules, and European Hydrogen Bank requirements.

· Knowledge of programs and opportunities at the European Investment Bank and member state export credit agencies

· Proven experience influencing energy, climate, or industrial policy at EU and member state level

· Experience with near term demand initiatives impacting sustainable aviation fuel, maritime fuel, transport fuel, and industrial fuel usage

· Strong network of policymakers and regulators

· Public affairs experience leading multi-faceted campaigns to influence policy makers and thought leaders

· Ability to navigate complex policy environments and deliver creative and tangible real-world outcomes

· Passion for building coalitions and advancing bold ideas that accelerate decarbonization

· Flexible and collaborative attitude that allows you to adapt to a nascent and rapidly change market and policy environment

· Start-up experience preferred

Why join EH2?

· Work with some of the world’s top innovators in hydrogen and clean energy

· Play a defining role in Europe’s green hydrogen story

· Join a mission-driven company backed by world-class investors and partners

· Early growth stage company that will give you the opportunity to shape and accelerate emerging decarbonization policy and get in early on unlocking a trillion-dollar market
