We are seeking a talented and motivated Field Instruction Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will manage, draft, and validate Field Instructions for iron flow battery systems. You will conduct training for our customers, Service Network Providers, and Staff to ensure all parties can safely and effectively operate and maintain ESS products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Field Instructions, Service Bulletins and Manuals:
- Develop, review, and maintain technical documentation to align with industry standards and company policies.
- Collaborate with engineering and service teams to gather insights for documentation creation.
- Validate and test documentation processes in field settings for clarity and usability.
- Conduct training sessions for team members and stakeholders on implemented documents and procedures.
- Update and revise documentation based on feedback and changing operational needs.
- Serve as the primary contact for field service inquiries related to documentation and operational procedures.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to technical documentation and field services.
- Prepare performance reports and provide insights to stakeholders.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Stay informed about the latest advancements in energy storage technologies and industry best practices.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of new and existing products, Network Operating Center (NOC), and customer success processes and procedures.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to test, validate, and release new documentation.
- Partner with Product and Engineering teams to ensure serviceability of existing and future products.
- Perform factory ELT testing for each new product to ensure familiarity with all products.
- Lead factory and field validation of startup, maintenance, and repair instructions.
- Conduct technical training for operators, service network providers, and new ESS employees as needed.
- Additional Responsibilities:
- Be available for scheduled on-call support to address critical issues or system failures promptly.
- Provide backup to Technical Response Engineers (TRE), Field Service Engineers (FSE), and Performance Monitoring Engineers (PME).
- Proactively identify potential issues and implement solutions to mitigate them.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 35-50 lbs. unassisted, and frequently bend, stoop, twist, climb, crouch/squat, kneel/crawl, sit, and stand for long periods.
- Must reach above, below, and at shoulder level, flex and extend the neck, and have good hand and finger dexterity.
- Specific vision abilities required include color, close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
- Willingness to be available after hours, with unpredictable work schedules that may include up to 50% travel.
- Must maintain a valid driver's license.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience in a similar role, preferably within the energy storage or renewable energy sector.
- Strong understanding of battery systems, particularly iron flow batteries and energy storage technologies.
- Excellent technical writing and communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in documentation tools and software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat).
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- OSHA 10 Certified.
- NFPA 70E Certified.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with equipment and technologies pertinent to our industry.
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance and safety standards.
- Previous experience in training and mentoring teams.
- Certification in technical writing or documentation.
