As the Manufacturing Engineer I, you will specialize in the electrical and power systems within our manufacturing processes. You will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to design, validate, and implement robust manufacturing processes and equipment, ensuring they meet the high standards of scalability and reliability required for our energy storage solutions.
What You’ll Do at ESS
- Participate in the development, validation, and deployment of manufacturing processes with a focus on electrical systems, wiring, and power distribution.
- Establish Bills of Materials (BOMs), workflows, fixtures, and tooling for efficient and high-quality assembly of electrical components, including wiring harnesses, control panels, and power management systems.
- Collaborate with R&D, Design Engineering, Quality, and Operations to transition electrical and power designs from prototype to full-scale production readiness.
- Specify, source, and validate manufacturing equipment and tools for electrical systems, including robotics, automated testing systems, and PLC-controlled equipment.
- Support product launches by providing estimates for labor, material handling, and electrical equipment needs, and ensure smooth installation and validation of production lines.
- Drive continuous improvement projects focusing on first-pass yield, electrical system reliability, cycle time reduction, and cost efficiency.
- Develop and implement safety-compliant manufacturing processes for electrical systems, ensuring adherence to site Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) policies.
- Troubleshoot and resolve electrical manufacturing challenges to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
What You Bring to the Table
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
- 1 to 2 years of experience in manufacturing, with specific expertise in electrical systems and power components.
- Experience with CAD/CAM tools and fixture/tool design in a production environment.
- Hands-on experience with at least one of the following:
- Robotics and PLC-controlled equipment for electrical manufacturing.
- Sourcing and qualifying suppliers for electrical systems, such as wiring harnesses, control panels, or power electronics.
- Developing and implementing quality plans, sampling plans, or detailed work instructions for electrical processes.
- Proven ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including electrical, mechanical, and software engineers.
- Experience with BOM management and workflows in ERP systems such as Oracle.
- Understanding of electrical systems, including power distribution, wiring harnesses, and instrumentation.
- Proficiency in GD&T and ability to read and generate electrical drawings, schematics and specifications.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Some Lean Six Sigma training or equivalent experience, no certification required.
- Ability to edit and write scripts in C or Python.
