Under the supervision of the Director of Process Engineering, the Pilot Line Manager will be integral to startup a new manufacturing facility, help hire direct reports for machine operations, drive continuous improvement and optimization of all processes. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a highly collaborative personality and strong mechanical/electrical background while managing projects in feedstock, bio-mass processing, packaging, and plant utility systems. The fundamental goal of this role will be to turn on a fully functioning facility, hire operators and run day-to-day operations.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

PLANT LEADERSHIP

  • The Pilot Line Manager will oversee all daily operations of the plant from production and manufacturing to ensuring policies and procedures are followed.

  • Develop processes that will maximize stewardship, safety, quality and productivity. Responsible for all Environmental, Health and Safety aspects of the facility.

  • Plan, organize, direct and run optimum day-to-day operations to meet or exceed production goals.

  • Increase production, assets capacity and flexibility while minimizing unnecessary costs and maintaining current quality standards.

  • Be responsible for production output, product quality and on-time shipping.

  • Allocate resources effectively and fully utilize assets to produce optimal results.

  • Implement strategies in alignment with strategic initiatives and provide a clear sense of direction and focus.

  • Monitor operations and trigger corrective actions.

  • Share a trusting relationship with workgroup and recruit, manage and develop plant staff.

  • Collect and analyze data to find places of waste or overtime.

  • Commit to plant safety procedures.

  • Develop systems and processes that track and optimize productivity and standards, metrics and performance targets to ensure effective return on assets.

  • Address employees’ issues or grievances and administer collective bargaining agreements.

  • Influence and learn from operations team.

  • Stay up to date with latest production management best practices and concepts.

 

PLANT DEVELOPMENT

  • Responsible for project scope execution, schedule management and safety for building the Pilot Line.

  • Assists in the competitive selection process of construction contractors or vendors as necessary for each project.

  • Reviews drawings and other technical documentation as needed.

  • Develops Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) planning and executes successful FAT.

  • Provides installation supervision, leads commissioning, and field troubleshooting during startup phase.

  • Identifies and resolves technical problems.

  • Coordinates and supervises contractors and vendor reps and construction management.

  • Adds value by influencing through innovation and continuous improvement.

  • Identifies, develops, and implements process improvement projects to increase productivity, reliability, sustainability, and cost reduction.

 

KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • Computer literacy.

  • Ability to create accountability and to lead by example.

  • Strong team building, decision-making and people management skills.

  • Creation and write-up of all standard operating procedures.

  • Training of hourly people on the machines operations.

  • Provides Insight on hiring for machine operators.

QUALIFICATIONS 

REQUIRED

  • Proven managerial experience

  • Adequate knowledge of business and management principles (budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation and human resources)

  • Familiarity with industry standard equipment and technical expertise

  • Be knowledgeable of safety, quality, productivity, demand creation, inventory and stewardship processes

  • Minimum 4+ years of industrial manufacturing experience

  • Demonstrated leadership, planning, organizing and communication skills.

  • Contractor management experience, including scoping the work, managing a bidding process, negotiations, field installation supervision, and change order management

  • Experience leading cross-functional teams.

  • Ability to follow up and prioritize plant issues independently and juggle multiple projects with minimal supervision.

  • Demonstrated ability to identify, troubleshoot, and solve technical problems.

  • Ability to communicate and present to individuals at all levels of the organization,

  • Willingness to learn and adapt to a fast-changing environment.

  • Proficient in Excel, Power Point, MS Project, Word.

  • Must have solid written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work weekends, varying shifts, holidays as schedules may require.

  • Lives or willingness to live within 60 mins of Pine Bluff, AR.

PREFERRED

  • Proficient In AutoCAD, Revit or CAD modeling software.

  • Experience with MS Project.

  • Experience working for a start-up company.

  • Understanding of CDR or carbon sequestration.

  • Desire to help mitigate global warming.

  • Experience in management of Profit/Loss for manufacturing.

  • Management of budgets over $2,000,000.

  • Proven work experience as a Plant Manager.

  • Engineering background.
