Job Description
At Heart Aerospace we develop the ES-30, a regional hybrid-electric airplane with a capacity of 30 passengers, an electric zero-emission range of 200 km and an extended hybrid range of 400 km. Heart is targeting type certification of the ES-30 by the end of the decade.
Our headquarters is based in Gothenburg, Sweden and we are now opening up a R&D hub in Los Angeles, which will focus on the advancement of Heart’s hybrid-electric propulsion system and other key technologies.
Your mission
Heart is building a hybrid, battery-electric regional aircraft to decarbonize and democratize aviation. As a Senior Flight Dynamics Engineer on the Flight Performance and Simulation team, you will develop, analyze, and verify aircraft loads and dynamics of our clean sheet hybrid-electric aircraft.
You will report to the CTO and your place of work will be at our office located in El Segundo, CA (Los Angeles).
Skills & Requirements
You'll Bring These Qualifications:
- 3+ years professional experience in aircraft loads and aeroelasticity, with a solid
- Proficiency in HyperMesh or similar FEA tools, and aeroelastic solver tools.
- Experience in CAD design tools such as Siemens NX, and ability to set up simulations from mechanical design data.
- Strong software development knowledge in Python, MATLAB, or a similar language.
These Qualifications Would Be Nice to Have:
- Foundation in aerodynamics, rigid body dynamics, and the principles of vibration
- Experience developing software in a team environment (including version control and CI/CD).
- Experience building optimization pipelines that integrate disparate workflows and tools.
- Familiarity with environmental qualification testing standards like DO-160G.
- Experience with Composite Structures
- Excellent verbal & written communication skills in English
- Passion for aircraft and electrification of the aviation industry
Education
- Bachelor's or above in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or similar
