Job Description

At Heart Aerospace we develop the ES-30, a regional hybrid-electric airplane with a capacity of 30 passengers, an electric zero-emission range of 200 km and an extended hybrid range of 400 km. Heart is targeting type certification of the ES-30 by the end of the decade.

Your mission

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Rotor Analyst Engineer to join our Propulsion team. You will lead the design and analysis of the aircraft’s turboprop propeller systems, supporting performance, noise, vibration, structural, and aerodynamic optimization for hybrid-electric propulsion. You will interface across aerodynamics, mechanical structures, propulsion, systems, and flight test teams to ensure robust, certifiable, and efficient propeller systems for the ES-30. You will contribute into our Digital Twin development for modeling of propellers and optimization of design for an optimized mission profile.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Lead the design, simulation, and performance evaluation of turboprop propeller systems.
  • Strong background with developing rotor systems and composite rotor blade production processes.
  • Conduct rotorcraft/propeller aerodynamic analysis, including efficiency, air drag, and thrust modeling.
  • Perform detailed NVH (noise, vibration, and harshness) and acoustic analysis of rotating systems.
  • Analyze and mitigate structural resonances and dynamic instabilities in rotating assemblies.
  • Perform CFD, FEA, and rotor dynamics simulation tools to evaluate coupled aero-structural phenomena.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated rotor systems meet performance and certification goals.
  • Support the development of test plans and interpretation of experimental data for rotor system validation.
  • Contribute to trade studies and design optimization for efficiency, manufacturability, and reliability.

Skills & Requirements

You'll Bring These Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of professional experience in propeller, rotorcraft, or turbomachinery design and analysis.
  • Deep understanding of propeller aerodynamics, including blade element momentum theory and CFD-based methods.
  • Experience with tools such as ANSYS CFX, Fluent, OVERFLOW, STAR-CCM+, or OpenFOAM for aerodynamic analysis.
  • Proficiency in rotor dynamics and structural modal analysis using tools like ANSYS Mechanical, NASTRAN, or MSC Adams.
  • Strong knowledge of acoustic modeling and NVH analysis techniques (e.g., LMS Virtual.Lab, Actran).
  • Experience in modeling and analysis of composite propeller blades and hub systems.
  • Familiarity with resonance avoidance strategies, damping treatments, and fatigue analysis of rotating components.

These Qualifications Would Be Nice to Have:

  • Experience with aircraft-level aero-acoustic certification or noise compliance standards (e.g., ICAO Annex 16, FAR Part 36).
  • Background in hybrid-electric or distributed propulsion systems.
  • Familiarity with aerospace certification standards (e.g., EASA CS-23/25 or FAA FAR Part 23/25).
  • Experience correlating simulation models with wind tunnel or in-flight test data.

Education

  • Master’s or PhD degree in Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering, or related fields with a focus on rotor dynamics, aerodynamics, or structural mechanics.
