We are looking for a Senior People Operations & Global Mobility Specialist. As a Senior People Operations & Global Mobility Specialist, you will be part of a cross-functional team whose mission is to lead IonQ on its journey to build the world’s best quantum computers to solve the world’s most complex problems.

In this role, you will serve as a key member of our People Operations team, bringing your expertise in global mobility and immigration to support IonQ’s growing international workforce. You will manage international relocations, oversee immigration casework, and ensure a smooth experience for employees navigating cross-border transitions. Additionally, you will play a critical role in international HR operations, including benefits and payroll administration, compliance with global employment regulations, and driving process improvements that support our expanding global presence.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary HR contact for international employees, providing support throughout onboarding, offboarding, and policy guidance.
  • Manage end-to-end global mobility processes, including relocations, housing, logistics, and international transfers.
  • Oversee immigration case management and partner with legal counsel to ensure timely filings and compliance across multiple visa types.
  • Coordinate visa/work permit applications and track immigration statuses, ensuring timely renewals and accurate records in HR systems.
  • Administer international benefits programs and collaborate with brokers and vendors to meet local regulatory requirements.
  • Manage global payroll activities and support U.S. payroll, including shadow payroll, tax equalization, and expatriate compensation.
  • Identify and implement process improvements across international HR operations, focusing on payroll, benefits, and compliance.
  • Prepare reports, support HR analytics, and lead cross-functional projects to enhance employee engagement and system integration.

You’d be a good fit with:

  • 7–10 years of HR experience, including 4+ years in global mobility and immigration, with strong knowledge of U.S. visa processes and international relocation.
  • Demonstrated experience partnering with immigration counsel, tax advisors, and relocation vendors, familiarity with international labor laws and expatriate payroll.
  • Proficient in HRIS systems (e.g., Dayforce) and Google Workspace, with excellent communication, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage sensitive, confidential information.
  • Experience supporting a diverse, global workforce.
  • Ability to work independently and adapt quickly in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and cultural awareness.
  • Flexibility to work outside standard hours to support global stakeholders.

You’d be a great fit with:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, or related field preferred.
  • Deep understanding of international tax and immigration regulations.
  • Familiarity with various international employment laws

Location: This role is based at our office in College Park, MD, with the option to work remotely a few days a week (at least 1 day in the office per week).

The approximate base salary range for this position is $94,294 - $122,963. The total compensation package includes base, bonus, and equity.

Compensation will vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Posted base salary figures are subject to change as new market data becomes available. Beyond base salary, total compensation includes a variable bonus and equity component and a range of benefit options found on our career site at ionq.co/jobs. IonQ's HQ is located in College Park, Maryland, just outside of Washington DC. We are actively building out our recently opened manufacturing and production facility in Bothell, WA (near Seattle). Depending on the position, you may be required to be near one of our offices in College Park, Seattle, Toronto, Canada, and Basel, Switzerland.
