Job Description

Lilac Solutions is looking for a Director of IT. The IT Director will oversee all IT (Information Technology) functions in our company. You will oversee managing the company’s technology operations and the implementation of new IT systems and policies as well as building out the IT department team. As a senior member of our staff you will be a trusted advisor to the executive leadership on all matters related to IT. The ideal candidate will be experienced in creating and implementing IT policies and systems that will meet objectives while influencing and motivating those around you to adopt them.

The goal is to ensure IT systems and people are effective and functioning within the limits of budget, time and specifications of the company.

The position will be based in Oakland, California.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all technology operations – be it inhouse or through 3rd party vendors (e.g., network architecture and infrastructure, etc) and evaluate them according to established goals
• Devise and establish IT policies and systems to support the implementation of strategies set by upper management
• Analyze the business requirements of all departments to determine their technology needs
• Purchase efficient and cost-effective technological equipment and software
• Inspect the use of technological equipment and software to ensure functionality and efficiency
• Identify the need for upgrades, configurations or new systems and report to upper management
• Coordinate IT managers and supervise computer scientists, technicians and other professionals to provide guidance (these could be internal or 3rd party vendors)
• Control budget and report on expenditure
• Assist in building relationships with vendors and creating cost-efficient contracts

Candidate Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience working in IT operations, supervising technology teams, and overseeing large information technology projects. Proven experience as IT director or similar role is a plus
• BSc/BA in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems or related field; MSc/MA is a plus
• Excellent understanding of computer systems, cyber-security, network and systems administration, databases and data storage systems, and telecommunications systems
• Experience in controlling information technology budget
• Excellent organizational and leadership skills
• Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate with teams across the entire organization
• Experience working for a high growth company rapidly scaling headcount and evolving IT needs
• Experience working in an international organization

Compensation

• Salary range: $175K-$225K annually (commensurate with experience)
