Mangrove Lithium, a Vancouver based company, has developed a breakthrough platform for the most cost-effective production of battery grade lithium hydroxide and carbonate from diverse input streams and assets. Mangrove’s modular solution can be scaled to any capacity and co-located with upstream lithium producers, battery recyclers, or battery manufacturers. The company has attracted funding from Bill Gates’ Breakthrough Energy Ventures, BDC Capital and BMW I Ventures. The Company has a highly experienced leadership team with a track record of successfully commercializing and deploying industrial technologies and is working towards the deployment of a first-of-a-kind commercial plant.
Mangrove is looking for a skilled Plant Operator to maintain and operate electrochemical processing and laboratory equipment and ensure the efficient running of our pilot plant located in Delta, BC (Annacis Island). The individual will have a diverse and well-rounded technical skill set that includes working with chemicals such as acids and bases. The plant operator will monitor process and equipment setpoints to ensure optimal production levels. The plant operator’s responsibilities include regular maintenance of equipment and resolving any operational issues that may arise. You will be required to interact with co-workers in cross-functional teams.
Note: This position is located primarily at our Annacis Island (Delta, BC) facility and will sometimes require overnight shifts. The location is accessible via transit, however overnight shifts may require more reliable transportation arrangements.
Responsibilities
- Monitoring electrochemical plant operations and equipment by observing gauges, dials, switches, alarms, and other indicators.
- Assisting with start-up, shutdown, and operations of facility equipment.
- Assisting with process and equipment troubleshooting and maintenance.
- Identifying and solving process and equipment problems.
- Ensuring that safety and environmental rules and programs are followed.
- Conceptualizing and recommending plant improvement strategies.
- Keeping records of operation including activity logs.
- Training new hires and cross-training other staff members.
Required Education, Skills, and Experience
- A minimum of a high school diploma with an understanding of basic chemistry.
- Proficiency in math and technical subjects is preferred.
- Previous hands-on experience in chemical manufacturing, chemistry lab or an industrial setting.
- Experience performing general maintenance on chemical process equipment and components (pumps, valves, gauges, etc.)
- A proven ability to work independently as well as on a team.
- Working knowledge of Word and Excel.
- Ability to follow schematics, standard operating procedures, and manuals.
- Ability to execute an experiment on process equipment with variable conditions.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including night shifts and weekends.
