Mangrove Lithium, a Vancouver based company, has developed a breakthrough platform for the most cost-effective production of battery grade lithium hydroxide and carbonate from diverse input streams and assets. Mangrove’s modular solution can be scaled to any capacity and co-located with upstream lithium producers or cathode and cell manufacturers. The platform technology is being commercialized for the conversion of waste brines to chemicals and desalinated water. The company recently attracted funding through Breakthrough Energy, BMW i Ventures, and BDC Capital and is working towards the deployment of a first-of-a-kind commercial plant.

Location: Hybrid position with a minimum of 3 days per week required at the Delta location.

Position

The Manager works with the senior management team to develop the company culture and take responsibility for HR Best Practices. The initial focus will be a rapid ramp up in recruitment with a long-term goal of creating an organization that creates a positive working environment, supports our Core Values and develops a reputation as the best place to work in our industry are important. Also key will be the creation of a “learning organization”, one committed to ongoing professional and personal development that will keep employees as recognized leaders in their fields as well as highly effective in non-technical skills. This is a sole practitioner position and as a result is hands-on.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures Core Values are understood and embraced throughout the organization.
  • Works with the CEO to determine corporate HR needs.
  • Implements human resources initiatives and programs that effectively support overall company vision.
  • Oversees the recruitment, selection and retention of high quality people throughout the company, and directly handles the recruitment of the Director level and up.
  • Develops, recommends, communicates and implements human resources policies and programs that meet operational and employee needs. Ensures compliance with legislation, and consistent and fair application of policies.
  • Provides an effective and ongoing training program in both technical and non-technical skills to support the corporate priorities.
  • Coordinates the performance management process ensuring performance appraisals are done on time and are consistent with core values.
  • Leads integration of new employees through acquisitions and ensures corporate vision is developed.
  • Develops and maintains effective compensation and benefits policies and programs. Ensures that monetary and non-monetary compensation is competitive with the marketplace and internal equity is achieved.
  • Provides a source of confidential guidance and counsel to managers and staff concerning policies, practices, performance and conflict resolution.

Qualifications

  • Education: Degree in business, specializing in HR preferred.
  • Experience: at least 5 years experience in a senior HR position in a high growth technology company
  • Strong technical skills in HR management, including Recruitment, Compensation & Benefits, Organizational Development, Training, and Personnel Administration.
  • Strong interpersonal skills combined with proven skills in building and sustaining a strong working environment.
  • The ability to establish effective relationships at all levels in the organization is critical.
  • Ability to influence a strong-willed management team to ensure HR practices are followed.
  • Outstanding presentation skills, both written and oral, are required as are strong group process and facilitation skills.
