Description

Mangrove is looking for a skilled Plant Engineer to manage the operation and maintenance of its production equipment, with a targeted emphasis on crystallization and bagging of battery grade lithium hydroxide produced at our facility in Delta, BC (Tilbury). In addition to crystallization, this role presents the opportunity to work with a broad variety of process equipment including digestors, brine treatment and filtration, and our proprietary electrolyser technology. The Engineer will work within a larger Operations Engineering group, as well as with our Quality, Production and Maintenance teams to ensure safe, optimal performance of the equipment. Mangrove Lithium is a growing organization and this position features interaction with cross-functional teams with distinct expertise.

Note: This position is located at our Tilbury (Delta, BC) facility and will require periodic on-call availability after hours. While the location is accessible via transit, this role may require more reliable transportation arrangements.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring that our safety and environmental rules and programs continue to meet a high standard of excellence, and are consistently adhered to
• Commissioning and integration of the crystallization system to support production of battery grade lithium hydroxide monohydrate
• Collaborate with the Maintenance group to develop a dedicated preventative maintenance program
• Ongoing monitoring and analysis of system performance to identify early signs of problems and minimize downtime
• Lead identification and resolution of operational problems with support of Maintenance, Quality and Production teams
• Conceptualizing and recommending plant improvement strategies
• Routine reporting on system performance metrics
• Lead on design and integration of process improvements to achieve improved safety and productivity
• Support the Production and Maintenance teams’ operation of the broader plant as a member of the Operations Engineering group

Required Education, Skills, and Experience

• Safety is our top priority – a strong safety mindset is mandatory
• Bachelor's degree in chemical or process engineering, and registered with EGBC
• Registration as a Professional Engineer with EGBC is a strong asset
• Strong skills in math, chemistry and other technical subjects are essential
• At least 5 years’ experience in industrial crystallization
• A proven ability to work effectively on a team.
• Proficiency in statistical data analysis for process optimization
• Ability to draft engineering documents and standard operating procedures
• Previous experience in commissioning and operating industrial chemical process equipment
