Géologue Junior
mantle8
Grenoble, France
Posted on Mar 14, 2026
As a Junior Geoscientist, you will contribute to Mantle8's natural hydrogen exploration program through subsurface data interpretation and integrated geological modelling. Embedded within the Geology vertical, you will work primarily on onshore fold and thrust belt environments, supporting prospect generation and maturation workflows in close collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities
1. Subsurface Interpretation & Characterisation
- Interpret and integrate seismic, geological, and subsurface data to characterise the subsurface structural and reservoir geology, primarily in fold and thrust belt settings (onshore).
- Perform 2D/3D seismic interpretation, including structural and stratigraphic interpretation and mapping, to identify and mature natural hydrogen prospects.
- Collect, gather, and analyse legacy O&G and/or mining surface and subsurface data to build geological understanding.
2. Hydrogen Exploration & Prospect Generation
- Support subsurface exploration of natural hydrogen and contribute to prospect generation and maturation.
- Contribute to lead and prospect generation using advanced interpretation techniques and new datasets.
- Work within multidisciplinary teams (geology, geophysics, geochemistry, drilling) to build integrated subsurface models.
3. Communication & Collaboration
- Communicate technical results and recommendations to support project evaluations and decision-making.
- Actively participate in team meetings and contribute to a collaborative, innovation-driven work environment.
Candidate Profile
Essential Qualifications & Skills
- Master's degree (or equivalent) in Applied Geosciences or related disciplines (e.g. Reservoir Engineering, Structural Geology, Geophysics).
- Approximately 5 years of experience in the O&G geoscience industry, with hands-on subsurface interpretation work.
- Solid understanding of structural and stratigraphic geology, with experience in fold and thrust belt environments being a strong asset.
- Proficiency in seismic interpretation (2D/3D), geological mapping, and subsurface data integration.
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary technical teams.
- Strong analytical skills and a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.
- Fluent in English; French is a plus.
Nice to Have
- Experience in field geology.
- Background in reservoir geology.
- Familiarity with industry-standard software: Move (structural modelling), Petrel (seismic & reservoir interpretation).
- Interest in or exposure to natural hydrogen exploration.
Why Join Mantle8?
- At Mantle8, you will work at the forefront of natural hydrogen exploration, contributing to technologies that help shape the future of clean energy. You will join a research-driven deeptech company collaborating closely with leading academic and industrial partners, and work in a flat and fast-moving team where ideas circulate freely. Based in Grenoble, in the French Alps, you will also enjoy one of Europe’s most vibrant science hubs and an exceptional quality of life.
