Who we are --------
We are Mantle 8, a clean-tech start-up revolutionising natural hydrogen exploration with cutting-edge technology and geology. We seek a highly creative developer to help deliver our transformative technology for the energy transition.
Natural hydrogen offers an affordable, abundant energy source, with significant potential in Europe. At Mantle 8, we leverage 20+ years of expertise in geology, predictive modelling, and 4D imaging to pinpoint optimal reserves.
Backed by leading clean-tech investors, including Breakthrough Energy Ventures and Kiko Ventures, we’re scaling up affordable natural hydrogen — and you could be a key of this journey!
What the job is about --------
As a Data Lead, you will be immersed in Mantle8's geoscientific team, be the data right hand of the CTO and be a transverse integrator.
You will be responsible for developing tools and methodologies to process, analyze, and interpret vast and diverse datasets. Your focus will be on leveraging advanced algorithms and machine learning to enhance exploration targeting and build digital solutions aligned with the company's proprietary geoscientific concepts.
You will work on large and complex geospatial datasets, enabling automatic or semi-automatic identification of exploration zones by integrating geological, geophysical, geochemical, environmental and business data.
You will also significantly contribute to the innovation and intellectual property of Mantle8.
What you'll be doing --------
- Build digital tools, numerical simulations, geoscientific algorithms, and visualization solutions to identify hydrogen geosystems, and automate subsurface data interpretation for exploration targeting.
- Develop real-time big data processing workflows and manage big geoscientific datasets by preprocessing, integrating, and ensuring quality and security in alignment with company standards.
- Source strategic data to maximise our technology stack development and build a scalable data and computing infrastructure.
- Apply machine learning, statistical analysis, and geophysical inversion techniques to analyze large datasets and automate repetitive tasks - e.g., through API connections between external softwares and datasets.
- Test and validate new methodologies through collaborations with academic and industry partners.
- Collaborate with geoscientists, engineers, and external experts, mentor junior scientists, and represent the company at conferences and workshops.
Our ideal profile --------
- Advanced degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) in Data Science, Geoscience, Computer Science, or related fields.
- 5+ years of experience in big data analysis, algorithm or digital product development, preferably within the energy, mining, or geosciences industries.
- Strong expertise in programming languages (Python, SQL, NoSQL) and big data ecosystems (Hadoop, Spark, Hive), with experience in building ETL pipelines.
- Proficiency in geospatial analysis tools (QGIS, ArcGIS) and geophysical inversion techniques, along with a solid understanding of geoscience data types such as seismic, well logs, and gravity data.
- Demonstrated experience in applying AI/ML techniques to geoscientific data analysis and problem-solving.
- Highly creative mindset, project management abilities, and excellent communication skills for multidisciplinary collaboration.
- Dynamic and flexible individual able to adapt to a constantly evolving start-up setting with strong drive to contribute to clean-tech innovations.
- Willing to relocate to the French Alps (Grenoble area).
What we offer --------
- A competitive salary with additional employee benefits including meal & vacation vouchers, corporate welfare plan and supplementary health insurance.
- Indefinite contract with worker protection as provisioned by French law.
- A unique opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking hydrogen exploration research across all fields of geosciences.
- A collaborative and innovative work environment in the heart of the French Alps.
- Professional growth opportunities in a top EU clean-tech start-up in a rapidly evolving energy sector.
Come join us and play a key role in our journey to revolutionizing the energy transition!
