Nature’s Fynd is a groundbreaking food tech company born out of NASA-supported research on extremophiles in the geothermal pools of Yellowstone National Park. Our novel fermentation technology produces a sustainable source of complete protein using only a fraction of the resources required by traditional agriculture. As the challenge to feed the world’s expanding population grows, our mission is to create amazing foods and materials that provide sustainable choices and nurture the planet.
We’re looking for passionate, driven, and ambitious people to join our fast-growing team.
This position will be located at 2075 W 43rd St, Chicago, IL 60609.
With contracts in place with multiple luxury brands, along with parallel thrusts to expand our presence in both the luxury and automotive spaces, enhance our internal coating performance, and scale our external finishing processes in Mexico, hiring a Finishing Technician is critical to meeting the increased demand and scope of work. This technician will be responsible for handling materials for brand engagements (20-50 sq ft per week) and will also contribute to DOE and process development work, which involves high R&D complexity, though limited material volume. The role requires managing several intricate variables, such as surface uniformity, thickness, color, performance, and formulation, while coordinating effectively with downstream technical staff and communicating with BD and Creative teams as needed.
A bachelor's degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or materials
science is preferred, given the chemistry involved, but we are willing to
train the right candidate who brings other essential skill sets. While
experience in spray finishing is a plus, we understand this might be rare in
recent graduates. We're open to candidates with equivalent practical
experience, even without a formal degree.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in a STEM field preferred, providing a strong foundation in analytical thinking and problem-solving
- Experience as a Spray Finish Technician/Associate or similar role
- Knowledge of different spray finishing techniques, equipment, and chemistries
- Familiarity with color theory and color matching principles
- Experience with preparing and documenting coatings formulations preferred
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to produce consistent, high-quality finishes
- Understanding of safety protocols and regulations related to handling finishing materials and operating spray equipment
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with other team members
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks
- Problem-solving skills to address issues that may arise during the finishing process
- Flexibility to adapt to changing project requirements and deadlines and works well with ambiguity
