About the Role:

Nobell is seeking a Computational Biologist / Machine Learning Scientist to join our team of scientists to contribute to the development of the Nobell Plant Grown Protein (PGP) platform. This effort will create the next generation of plants that will transform the food system. Success in this position will have a direct impact on the speed of discovery and the company’s growth in this space.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive computational analysis in collaboration with wet-lab scientists to optimize molecular biology workflows and molecular designs in plants.
  • Develop and implement algorithms across a range of in-house acquired data including, but not limited to genetic sequences, RNA expression, protein expression and protein structure.
  • Design, build, and operate data pipelines that perform core scientific analyses and provide reports to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Contribute insights that will drive our technology strategies, and find ways to improve molecular designs by training and developing predictive models.
  • Collaborate with the data engineering team to define the tools that our data platform should adopt to achieve our goals.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • PhD in a quantitative field (e.g., mathematics, computer science, engineering, statistics, bioinformatics, molecular biology, biochemistry etc.) with 2-4 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Knowledge of molecular biology and biochemistry/structural biology is a requirement.
  • Knowledge of applied statistics and quantitative modeling
  • Experience with Machine Learning and predictive analytics
  • Experience with programming in Python or R
  • Some experience with generative AI
  • A track record of achievements in designing and performing computational investigations
  • Good analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience visualizing data to answer complex scientific questions
  • Proven track record for sound decision-making
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal, and presentation skills
  • Ability to lead, influence and work well with people at all levels of our company

Closing:

The pay range is currently between $130,000 to $180,000 in annual gross compensation. Within the range, individual pay is determined by many factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
