About the Role:

You will play an essential role in supporting our scientists in the Plant Transformation and Molecular Biology Group to carry out research and development projects that are aimed at creation of better foods. This role involves performing tasks for both teams on a daily basis, necessitating a high level of organization and the ability to multitask effectively.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare tissue culture media and stock solutions
• Maintain and clean glassware
• Autoclave glassware and other lab tools/supplies
• Sort, clean and extract plant seeds
• Support and assist with transformation experiments
• Water plants in growth chambers
• Accurately follow established protocols
• DNA/RNA isolation from plant tissues
• Perform repetitive molecular biology tasks with limited supervision
• Maintain detailed and accurate records of lab work
• General maintenance of laboratory equipment and supplies
• Order and stock supplies for inventory

Education and Experience Requirements:

• You have a Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology, Plant Genetics, Biochemistry, or a related field.
• You have prior experience working with RNA isolation, Sanger sequencing, PCR, RT-qPCR and/or ddPCR is a plus.
• You are familiar with laboratory instruments, such as pipettes, autoclaves, analytical balances, pH meters, dish washer, laminar flow hoods, etc.
• You have the experience working under aseptic conditions.
• You have fundamental and applied knowledge of molecular biology techniques
• You are self-motivated, organized, detail-oriented and adaptable.
• You are able to work productively with minimal to no supervision, and complete tasks in a timely manner.
• You are able to handle stressful situations, in an efficient and professional manner.
• Local candidates preferred.

Desired start date: as soon as possible

The pay range is currently between $68,000 to $80,000 in annual gross compensation. Within the range, individual pay is determined by many factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
