Alpine Bio is a plant genetics company transforming plants into the world's most regenerative protein factories. With a fully developed end-to-end bio-manufacturing platform Alpine Bio is poised to usher in a new age of hyper efficient protein production. Our first proof of concept protein, Casein, is a complex and unstructured dairy protein that gives cheese its stretch, melt, and much of its protein nutrients. We are beginning public tastings of our animal-free mozzarella via our brand Nobell Foods in 2025 and are quickly expanding into other high value proteins.

About the Role:

We are looking for a driven, resilient pilot manufacturing associate to become part of primary operations in our Pilot Plant. Your main focus will be to purify plant grown recombinant proteins at pilot-scale, and to perform all operational tasks safely and according to relevant operating procedures.

Who you are:

  • Committed to Pilot Plant operations excellence and quality.
  • Safety-minded, proactively spotting potentially unsafe situations and prioritizing safety.
  • Perceptive, able to spot variations from expected conditions and results.
  • Adaptable and likes hands-on problem solving.
  • Passionate about our mission of creating animal-free foods for the 99% of people who are unwilling to compromise on taste and price

Responsibilities:

  • Purify plant grown proteins at pilot scale (10-500L) that meet target quality requirements.
  • Operate, clean, and maintain pilot equipment and facility according to SOPs.
  • Monitor equipment and instruments, including flow meters and control valves.
  • Prepare processing buffers and solutions.
  • Generate and maintain detailed documentation following accepted Alpine Bio guidelines/format. This includes process flow diagrams, standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions (WIs), and batch records specific to the team.
  • Track production metrics over time and present results at team meetings.
  • Identify and communicate areas of improvement to process safety and/or efficiency.
  • Anticipate production needs and understand production requests in the context of the company’s goals.
  • Manage pilot plant consumables and raw materials inventory.
  • Analyze process performance using analytical techniques (pH, Conductivity, Moisture, Pierce 660, SDS-PAGE, Western Blot).

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in life science or engineering discipline (biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, biotechnology, chemical engineering, or similar).
  • 1-2+ years of experience in a manufacturing, pilot, or development lab environment.
  • Understanding of common protein separation technologies/unit operations.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and/or position the body to reach items on the floor/below knee level or reach overhead.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Resourceful, eager to learn, and team-oriented, with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently in a timely manner.
  • May need to travel within the US up to 25% of the time

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Some experience performing protein analytics and quantitation assays.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products, Google Suite services or other data manipulation software.

Closing:

The pay range is currently between $68,000 to $80,000 in annual gross compensation. Within the range, individual pay is determined by many factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
