One vision for our future leverages cultured meat as the primary source of animal protein. The importance and market share of cultured meat will depend upon being competitive in nutrition, flavor, consumer acceptance, sustainability, supply-chain resilience, and—most critically—cost. There is no likely world in which a meaningful cost premium above functionally-equivalent alternatives achieves massive scale and consequential impact.
