QuantumScape is on a mission to transform energy storage with solid-state lithium-metal battery technology. The company’s next-generation batteries are designed to enable longer range, faster charging and enhanced safety in electric vehicles to support the transition away from legacy energy sources toward a lower carbon future.
We are looking for a dedicated engineer to join our team to support process development and continuous improvement activities. In this role, you will have the opportunity to continuously improve existing coating, printing, and sintering processes as well as support the development of new processing methods.
Responsibilities:
Maintain baseline operations by closely and effectively working with other engineering teams and internal customers, provide technical support and timely response on issues.
Assist in developing, implementing and improving processing methods to improve quality and reduce process variability in collaboration with senior team members.
Work with a problem-solving mentality, identify and root cause the processing problems.
Collect, analyze and report baseline and experimental data to identify and solve process drifts, and to support/drive continuous process improvements.
Effectively communicate and document progress and results through detailed technical presentations and reports.
Demonstrate a high degree of independence, task management, and teamwork in a diverse and collaborative team environment.
Maintain safety stock of key raw materials, conduct incoming quality control (IQC), purchase and manage essential spare parts for the equipment.
Work in accordance with all safety procedures.
Minimum requirements:
B.S. in Ceramics Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent.
You have contributed to a hands-on design project and/or conducted experiments in a laboratory setting.
Your time/task management and organizational skills allow you to balance multiple high-impact projects.
You share a real passion for our mission.
Preferred:
Knowledge of engineering fundamentals, material science, statistical process control.
Ceramic materials experience/knowledge is a plus.
Proficient in safe laboratory practices especially in handling powders, solvents, and chemicals. Hands-on experience in a wet chemistry laboratory environment.
Experience in using at least one type of engineering software (e.g., JMP, MATLAB/python/R, etc.)
Ability to learn and adapt to changes quickly.
Respond to challenges with solutions.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Compensation:
Salary range for this role will likely be between $85-104K with potentially some flexibility based on candidate's experience level. QuantumScape also offers an annual bonus and a generous RSU/Equity package as part of its compensation plan.
