Reports to: Manager, Microscopy Ops
The Role:
-
Prepare samples for FIB/SEM, XCT, optical microscopy, and ion mill in person within various labs

Train area technicians in person on specific process steps and requirements with hands on support

Optimize sample prep procedures and conditions

Identify regions of interest based upon instructions

Run maintenance, calibration, and performance spec verification on tools

Deliver high-quality/volume analysis of samples while meeting sampling goals with minimal errors

Minimum Education And Experience Requirements
-
B.S. degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering or related field and 3 years of experience with analytical tools such as FIB/SEM and sample preparation; or MS degree plus 1 year experience working with FIB/SEM tools

Safely handle chemicals and dispose of hazardous waste

Ability to perform work in a glovebox, dry room, and fume hood
Preferrred Knowledge, skills, and abilities
-
Experience with semiconductor FA techniques such as but not limited to: XIVA, TIVA, OBRICH, EBIC, EMMI, etc.

Proficiency in at least one type of programming language (e.g., Python, R, JMP, MATLAB, etc.)

Familiar operating a plasma FIB system

Experience working with a Li-ion battery or analytical test lab

Exposure to tool qualification methods and GR&R
-
Experience preparing samples in an inert environment, such as glovebox operations, sample preparation (e.g. electrode depositions)

Previous TEM lamellae prep experience
Physical Requirements

Work is performed in a dry room, fume hood, lab area, or glovebox requiring the use of fine motor skills

Sitting or standing for extended periods of time

Reaching and twisting motions with hands

Lifting up to 25 lbs.
Compensation & Benefits: Salary range for this role has a range of $107,200 to $144,700, and a final salary will be determined by the candidate's experience and educational background. QuantumScape also offers an annual bonus and a generous RSU/Equity package as part of its compensation plan. In addition, we do offer a tremendous benefits plan including employee paid health care, Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP), and other exciting perks.
