Controls Engineering Intern/Co-op
Redwood Materials is seeking an entrepreneurial Controls Engineering intern or co-op to support our research and development, pilot projects, and commercial scale production operations.
Responsibilities will include:
- Supporting and leading controls projects including instrument selection, electrical design, PLC programming and HMI/SCADA development.
- Assisting with setup, testing, and debugging of instrumentation and control systems for new processing operations.
- Creation of programming and design standards and templates for the controls department.
Desired Qualifications:
- Pursuing a B.S. or advanced degree in chemical engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or another discipline with significant relevant coursework.
- Prior internship or work experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Previous experience learning or working with PLC’s, HMI’s, motion control, and robotics.
- Ability to read electrical and P&ID schematics.
- Understanding of control loop tuning via PID loops.
- Able to operate autonomously and safely in an industrial setting.
- Self-motivated, hands-on mindset, with a willingness to contribute at all levels.

This full-time paid position may be arranged as either an internship (12 weeks) or a Co-op (4-8 months), depending on the candidate.
Below are the three possible start-dates for this position:
- May 19th, 2025
- June 2nd, 2025
- June 23rd, 2025

The location of the internship is either in the Reno or Carson City, Nevada area (exact location is based on team placement). Interns are responsible for making their own housing and transportation arrangements. Please note that due to the location of our campuses, public transit options are limited, and the use of a personal or rented vehicle is recommended.
The position is full-time. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
