Description
As a Structural Test Engineer, you will be responsible for structural test facilities for hardware ranging from structural components and sub-assemblies to fully integrated launch vehicles. This tasking will span from the test-concept phase through sustainment of test facilities. You will work with and help build a team of engineers and technicians to accomplish your goals of ultimately delivering test data. You will work with hardware, software, mechanical systems, fluid systems, automation, instrumentation and control systems. You must be ready to stay focused, move fast, self-direct, and learn on the fly.
Responsibilities
- Owning the testing of vehicle structures, from concept through data reduction
- Supporting hardware owners in definition of test campaigns
- Owning structural test facilities from concept through sustainment
- Leading test operations including: autosequence creation, writing test procedures, data analysis
- Designing and building fluid, mechanical, instrumentation, and control systems for various test applications
- Operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting fluid, mechanical, instrumentation, and control systems for various test applications
- Managing project schedules
- Writing test procedures
- Performing hazard analysis
- Performing test data analysis
- Safely operate high pressure and cryogenic systems
- As part of a small team, you will also perform everyday tasks to keep the site running (shipping and receiving, administrative tasks, etc.)
Qualifications
- Exceptional command of fundamentals
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, aerospace engineering, or equivalent
- 3 years’ minimum experience with testing integrated structural systems professionally
- Experience with integrating and troubleshooting mechanical and electronic systems
- Experience in hydraulic power and control
- Experience with high pressure or hazardous environments
- Experience designing structural components, such as weldments
- Experience writing and operating test procedures
- Willing to work outdoors for long periods of time
- Able to stoop, bend, crawl, and lift up to 25 lbs. unassisted
- Passion for building something with high quality, willing to attend work with a positive and humble attitude, and willing to take ownership of large and small tasks to help the team be successful

Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years’ experience with testing integrated rocket vehicles professionally
- Familiarity with large-scale civil infrastructure
- Familiarity with large-scale electrical infrastructure
- Familiarity with high-precision instrumentation
- Familiarity with architecting automated systems
- Experience designing fluid systems, such as high-pressure gas or cryogenic systems
- Experience creating P&IDs
Compensation
Target Levels:
- Level 2 Range: $104,500 - $141,400
- Level 3 Range: $123,000 - $184,400
