Description
As a Structures Engineer, you will support the Stoke Advanced Concepts product line and be responsible for defining, designing, manufacturing, and testing various structural systems. You will be owner of the entire process for your designs, from early concepting and architecture trades, to creating models in CAD and completing analysis, to procuring parts with suppliers and integrating them onto the vehicle. As part of a small, well-supported team, you will have access to the resources you need to get the job done right while simultaneously boosting your skills at a pace that can’t be matched in most other roles. You must be ready to stay focused, move fast, self-direct, and learn on the fly.
Responsibilities
- Collect design requirements from multidisciplinary teams, and use these to create concepts for structural designs
- Lead architecture trades for major structural systems, rapidly transform these decisions into real-life hardware implementations
- Analyze structural components of the rocket and write margin summaries. May involve developing loads or load cases.
- Procure and manage all hardware for components and structures that you own
- Work side-by-side with manufacturing & test engineers to get the first several articles built and tested
- Track and disposition non-conformances for structural hardware
- Manage the budget and schedule for the structural components that you own
Qualifications
- 2 years minimum experience in a related role preferred
- Exceptional command of fundamentals
- Demonstrated experience working on one or more development projects through the full lifecycle, from concept through sustained operations, on an aerospace or similar high-performance product
- Proficiency with CAD software (NX preferred) and analysis software (ANSYS preferred)
- Ability to determine appropriate level of work for a problem (from hand calcs to multi-physics finite element solutions) and execute the work accordingly
- Familiarity with launch vehicle design desired (cryogenic propellant familiarity preferred)
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering, or similar
- Willing to relocate to Seattle, WA

Compensation
Target Levels:
- Level 2 range: $104,500 - $141,400
- Level 3 range: $123,000 - $184,400
