To fully unlock the potential of this opportunity, Terabase is developing an interconnected software and construction automation platform. We work alongside project developers, owners, and engineering & construction firms to support the design, optimization, and construction of huge solar projects around the world. Our team is a blend of solar-industry veterans and newbies, thought-leaders, dreamers, software, electrical and mechanical engineers, coders, product managers, project managers, and sales and marketing professionals. We are based in Northern California, with several other offices in the United States and around the world.
The Role

Terabase’s Autonomy Engineer, Navigation Lead and Program Manager is a key member of the Terabase Autonomy team, reporting to the Autonomy Team leader. This position is planned as a 50/50 remote/in-person role with our R&D facility in Davis California as the in-person location. This role will also require occasional travel to active solar power plant construction sites, where testing and validation activities will take place. Travel to project sites will not occur more than once per quarter, and a minimum of 2-week’s notice will be provided before any request for travel.
Responsibilities

Work with our Autonomy Platform vendor to integrate and apply existing products into our unique solar power plant construction context.

Navigation System Development: Design, develop, and optimize navigation algorithms and systems for autonomous construction vehicles.

Program Management: Oversee project timelines, milestones, and deliverables to ensure successful project execution.

Integration and Testing: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate navigation systems into construction vehicles and conduct rigorous testing to ensure performance and safety.

Data Analysis: Analyze data from sensors and navigation systems to improve accuracy and reliability.

Collaboration: Work closely with software engineers, hardware engineers, and other stakeholders to align on project goals and deliverables.

External Partnerships: Collaborate with external partners and an autonomy system vendor to ensure seamless integration and functionality of navigation systems.

Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of navigation system designs, test results, and project progress.

Site Visits: Travel to solar power plant construction sites as part of the role to oversee the deployment and performance of autonomous construction vehicles.
Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field.

Experience: 3-5 years of experience in autonomous vehicle navigation systems or related fields.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in programming languages such as C++, Python, and MATLAB. Experience with ROS (Robot Operating System) is a plus.

Project Management: Strong project management skills with experience in managing complex engineering projects.

Problem-Solving: Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience with machine learning and AI techniques applied to navigation systems.

Familiarity with sensor fusion, SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping), and path planning algorithms.

Knowledge of automotive industry standards and safety protocols.

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
