Position Overview

Job Title: Engineer

Reports to: VP of Manufacturing

Entry Annual Salary: $65,000

The engineer is responsible for correcting and improving manufacturing processes, systems, and operations with the goal of developing more advanced applied engineering skills. The position duties expectations are to make valuable contributions to engineering projects, actively participate in project tasks, assist in design, development, testing, and implementation processes, and contribute effectively to project outcomes, meeting deadlines, and achieving project goals. This position will work on troubleshooting and resolving technical issues that arise during production and testing, analyzing problems, proposing solutions, and implementing corrective actions. Their objective is to enhance their ability to identify and address engineering challenges, while implementing continuous improvement.

Essential Functions

  • Improve productivity by performing ergonomic evaluations, time studies, simulation, and line balancing, including studying and improving plant safety.
  • Assist in research, design, development, testing, and implementation processes.
  • Assess and support and preventive maintenance of machinery and spare parts management.
  • Study and improve plant safety.
  • Cost analysis.
  • Capacity utilization analysis.
  • Optimize assembly flow and process to minimize People per machine per day ensure efficient and cost-effective production.
  • Materials inspection.
  • Taking inventory.
  • Create engineering drawings, conduct calculations, and collaborate with the team to refine designs.
  • Process documentation. Responsible for documenting work, including creating SOPs, technical reports, specifications, and project documentation.
  • Maintain accurate records of design and process changes, test results, and project progress.
  • Assist in conducting tests, experiments, and simulations to evaluate the performance and reliability of raw material, product, system, and processes.
  • Assist in quality control processes to ensure adherence to engineering standards and specifications, including materials inspection.
  • Contribute to troubleshooting and problem-solving activities, identifying and resolving technical issues that arise during the development or implementation phases, collaborate with others to find practical solutions.
  • Practice the 5 Whys to determine root cause and implement SOP to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including other engineers, technicians, operations, and project managers.
  • Become a subject expert and train others.
  • Participate in meetings, provide updates on progress, and contribute to effective communication within the team.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, advancements, and best practices to their expertise.
  • Adhere to relevant industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols to ensure that work meets legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in obtaining necessary certifications or approvals.
  • Continuously work in a safe manner and maintain a safe and clean work area.
  • Follow company rules and guidelines.
  • Comply with cross-training and other training requirements.
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed, such as supporting preventative maintenance tasks and spare parts and tooling management.

Requirements

Training And Experience

  • Engineering majors. Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Welding Engineering, any other Engineering Major can be evaluated.
  • One or two years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing company complete the profile as desirable.
  • Experience using a relational database such as FoxPro, Oracle or Sql Server highly desired.
  • Experience using MiniTab, AutoCad and other analytical and planning tools highly desired.
  • One or two years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing company or internship in a related field is highly desired.


Compensation

The compensation for an entry level engineer is $65,000 annually. Those with more experience or specialized skills may be offered a higher salary.
