Position Overview
Summary: The Senior Accountant will prepare financial reports to track the organization’s assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities.
Essential Functions
- Performs general cost accounting and other related duties in the accounting department.
- Prepares periodic (monthly) balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements.
- Maintains the general ledger.
- Full Cycle AP, month end close journals and adjustments
- Create ad hoc financial reports, daily bank reconciliation
- Prepare and send weekly and monthly budget reports to management
- Balance sheet reconciliations for all accounts
- Codes invoices, sets up new accounts, reconciles accounts, and closes the monthly books.
- Reconciles bank accounts at least monthly, verifying deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks.
- Reconciles customer accounts and manages accounts receivable collections.
- Verifies payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
- Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.
- Perform advanced cost accounting analyses to compare estimated costs to actual costs.
- Prepare a variety of related budget reports.
- Files required tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies.
- As appropriate, coordinates with software vendor to maintain accounting software system; recommends updates to enhance the accounting software.
- Develop systems and procedures for accumulation systems and/or cost accounting functions.
- Predicts, plans, and records variable costs such as purchases of raw material, labor, and operation costs.
- Determines and recommends cost-effective solutions.
- Provides product sample costs for Sales, Marketing and General Accounting.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Communication and interpersonal skills: Effective communication is vital to interact with others including stakeholders, and senior management. Ability to present complex technical concepts in a clear and concise manner, both verbally and in written reports. Strong interpersonal skills are also important for building relationships, resolving conflicts, and fostering collaboration across different teams.
Business acumen: Advance knowledge of the business aspects of manufacturing operations. This includes budgeting, cost management, resource allocation, and risk assessment. Strong understanding of market trends, industry competition, and regulatory requirements to make informed decisions that align with the company's strategic objectives.

Requirements
- Extensive knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
- Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
- Highly proficient with accounting software.
- Extensive experience with NetSuite required.
- Strong inventory cost accounting experience.
- Experience in a start-up environment is highly desirable.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

Training and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline required.
- Three to five years of accounting experience required.
- Three years minimum experience in manufacturing sector.
