Senior Application Engineer
Software Engineering
Hardeeville, SC, USA
Position Overview
TS Conductor is seeking a Senior Application Engineer to support the application of our advanced overhead conductor technology in transmission and distribution projects. This role will serve as the technical bridge between TS Conductor, utilities, transmission engineers, consultants, EPCs, and customers.
Rather than performing full transmission line design, the Senior Application Engineer will have sufficient transmission engineering expertise to understand line design requirements, evaluate how TS Conductor performs within those designs, and provide technical recommendations that help customers successfully specify and apply our conductor technology.
The role will combine technical application engineering, customer support, field installation support, technical documentation, testing, and industry standards participation.
Essential Functions
- Provide technical application support for TS Conductor products on transmission and distribution projects.
- Review transmission line designs, specifications, loading conditions, clearances, structures, and conductor requirements.
- Perform or support conductor evaluations including ampacity, sag-tension, thermal performance, mechanical loading, clearances, and reconductoring applications.
- Help customers understand the technical and economic benefits of TS Conductor compared with conventional and other advanced conductors.
- Work closely with utilities, EPC firms, engineering consultants, and internal Sales and Engineering teams during project development.
- Review customer specifications and identify opportunities to incorporate TS Conductor into new-build and reconductoring projects.
- Support technical presentations, customer meetings, engineering studies, proposals, and field/application questions.
- Translate customer transmission-system requirements into actionable recommendations for TS Conductor's engineering and commercial teams.
- Conduct and support on-site conductor installation training, field demonstrations, and technical training for utilities, contractors, EPCs, and other customers.
- Provide field engineering support during conductor installation and help address application and installation-related technical questions.
- Develop and maintain technical product catalogues, application guides, application notes, technical bulletins, and other customer-facing engineering documentation.
- Represent TS Conductor on relevant industry standards committees and technical working groups, including organizations such as IEEE, ASTM, ANSI, IEC, and CIGRE, as appropriate.
- Support the development of technical requirements and best practices for the application, installation, and qualification of advanced overhead conductors.
- Work with internal engineering and R&D teams to translate field and customer feedback into product and application improvements.
- Follow company rules and guidelines.
- Other duties may be assigned as needed.
