Job Overview

In 2021 Turntide acquired three North East businesses to establish our presence in the UK – those businesses were Borg Warner in Gateshead, Hyperdrive in Sunderland and Avid in Cramlington. The acquisitions allowed us to extend our Smart Motor System to the transportation sector and help turn the tide on climate change.

There is a massive change happening across Transportation. Companies are working furiously to develop new electrified platforms to meet the demands of their customers and do their part to reduce carbon emissions. Our Turntide for Electrification solutions help ease the customer journey and accelerate their transition. The faster they can transform, the better it is for our planet.

A Production operator’s primary responsibility will be to assemble the product to the specification of the customer and liaise with Engineering team when required. The role is based at our site in Gateshead site and reports into the Manufacturing Team Leader, Supervisor & Manager.

Key Responsibilities

In this role the Production Operator will be responsible for the following:

To carry out assembly work independently to ensure production targets are met on a daily basis in order to supply the customer with a quality proven product

· Work to understand and follow engineering drawings and standard work instructions

· Complete basic paperwork using PC’s and data base systems

· Complex quality checks to ensure quality products are shipped to customers

· Ensure work area is prepared for the next day. This includes housekeeping, materials and build information

· Liaise with engineering regarding build and test issues

· Carry out Evo Motor build training for new operators

· Assist engineering team with dyno testing

· Comply with all relevant HSE legislation, local policies, and procedures

The Requirements

We’re looking for candidates with the following experience, skills & qualifications:

· Able to follow instructions and production schedules

· Able to act quickly when a problem arises

A recognised qualification is required to demonstrate proficiency in key skills: English Literature, English Language, Maths and ICT. Relevant experience could also be considered.

Bonus Points

· Experience within a manufacturing environment although full training will be given.

· Experience of motor building processes and procedures, stator winding, stacking and building.

· Electrical IPC awareness – wiring.

· ESD Awareness, handling PCB boards

· Experience of Battery building and manufacturing (energy storage solutions)
