Your role in the mission:
Type One Energy group are looking for a Director of Magnet Systems to direct the design, analysis, specification and procurement of complete magnet systems for two projects. The first project is Project Infinity- a medium scale stellarator that will demonstrate the performance of a highly optimized stellarator magnetic field configuration as well as the viability of high temperature superconducting stellarator magnets to produce that field configuration.
Following successful design, fabrication, and operation of Project Infinity, Type One Energy will begin construction of a second project, the Fusion Pilot Plant (FPP). This plant will demonstrate net production of electrical power with a closed fuel cycle.
The primary function of this position is to provide engineering management for the conceptual, preliminary, and final design and procurement of all the HTS magnets and related structures. This will be followed by design and procurement of magnet systems and components for the FPP.
Other Key Responsibilities:
Manage and direct a multidisciplinary team to develop the HTS magnet system design.
Coordinate with the Program Manager to develop the program work breakdown structure, integrated master plan, and/or integrated master schedule
Be responsible for technical quality and performance, budget (cost), schedule and risk and opportunity for magnet system engineering
Direct trade-offs as needed to make optimum design choices with respect to technical, cost and schedule constraints
Manage conduct and completion of subsystem and lower technical reviews
Provide product/subsystems design oversight for all magnet system components
Provide Configuration Management oversight for magnet system design and procurement products
Support the transition of the system to the Manufacturing Operations group.
