WHY VEIR?

VEIR is enabling a new generation of compact, efficient, high-power, and long-distance power delivery solutions, solving bottlenecks that exist across the entire electricity value chain, from generation through to data center server racks. VEIR's low voltage superconducting solutions are enabling new power delivery architectures in the world’s largest data centers and our higher voltage solutions are poised to revolutionize the development of electricity transmission and distribution lines. VEIR is preparing for rapid growth as we seek to solve critical challenges facing data center developers, electricity generation developers, and utilities around the world.

The Role

As the Technical Lead – Cable Assembly, you will be the technical leader responsible for the design, development, and integration of VEIR’s cable assemblies across all three of our product platforms. You’ll lead a cross-functional team of engineers driving cable development, ensuring that design, fabrication, and testing milestones are met on schedule and to specification.

This role combines deep technical expertise with strong people leadership. You’ll set direction, motivate the team, and ensure VEIR’s cable assemblies meet ambitious performance, reliability, and scalability goals. You’ll act as the “coach” of the cable assembly team, ensuring the right people are working on the right problems, aligning resources, and guiding the technical path forward for VEIR’s core cable technology. While not all team members will report to you directly, you’ll be accountable for ensuring that the cable assembly team executes effectively, collaborates well across disciplines, and delivers on VEIR’s mission.

In Your First 3–6 Months, You Will

  • Gain a deep understanding of VEIR’s cable assembly design, superconducting materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Apply your technical expertise in superconducting and electrical systems to guide design decisions, identify risks, and support problem-solving during active builds.
  • Flex your leadership and coaching skills to motivate and align a high-performing team of engineers, creating clarity around goals and instilling a culture of accountability and technical excellence.
  • Establish strong cross-functional relationships with teams in cryogenics, mechanical design, systems integration, and testing.
  • Define key deliverables, schedules, and technical milestones for each product line’s cable assembly, balancing short-term progress with long-term scalability.
  • Assess team structure, resource allocation, and workflows to identify opportunities for improved execution efficiency.
  • Lead technical design reviews and discussions, helping the team converge on innovative, manufacturable, and reliable solutions.

In Your First Year, You Will

  • Own the overall technical plan and roadmap for cable assembly development across all product lines.
  • Lead the cross-functional cable assembly team to deliver high-quality cable builds that meet performance, safety, and reliability targets.
  • Implement engineering best practices, documentation standards, and testing protocols.
  • Partner closely with program management to ensure team goals align with broader company priorities.
  • Mentor and coach engineers, fostering growth, accountability, and collaboration within the team.
  • Identify and de-risk critical technical challenges in conductor design and integration.

To Be Successful in This Role, You’ll Need

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Materials Engineering (Ph.D. or Applied Superconductivity focus a plus).
  • 8+ years of engineering experience developing complex hardware systems or components.
  • Deep understanding of superconducting materials, cryogenic systems, and high, medium and low voltage electrical systems.
  • Proven experience leading cross-functional engineering teams or technical programs.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills — able to prioritize and balance multiple projects and timelines.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and collaboration skills.
  • A hands-on, resourceful approach — able to connect strategic technical vision with day-to-day execution.
